Born in 1978, Latvian baritone Armands Silins makes his Canadian solo recital debut with pianist Elizabete Sirante. Mr. Silins has been a contract soloist with the Latvian National Opera since 2006. He has performed with the LNO orchestra and The Latvian National Symphony as a soloist in Requiems by Gabriel Faure and Michael Haydn as well as large scale works by Joseph Haydn and Franz Schubert. Operatic roles include Figaro, (Marriage of Figaro), Schaunard (La Boheme), Ping (Turandot), Sourin (Queen of Spades), and Morales (Carmen).

Ms. Sirante, born in Riga, is a graduate of the Latvian Academy of Music (2000) and the Helsinki Sibelius Academy (2005). She is the resident accompanist and repetiteur at both the Latvian Academy of Music and the National Opera of Latvia.

Fresh from his operatic triumphs as Eugene Onegin and Don Giovanni with the Canadian Opera Company, Brett Polegato is an ideally dramatic singer who can engage in the searing emotions of this great song-cycle, one which sums up much of Schubert’s achievement as a supreme songwriter.
