CBC today announced an agreement through which ticket sales for its Glenn Gould Studio will be available through the Roy Thomson Hall box office, effective Monday, August 11, 2008.As a result, patrons of Glenn Gould, located in CBC’s downtown Toronto Broadcast Centre, will experience greater convenience through faster service and increased box office hours. “This is a win-win situation for all parties,” says Mike Carroll, General Manager, Glenn Gould Studio. “In addition to better service for our customers, Glenn Gould Studio will enhance its publicity profile by being included in Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall promotional materials. We’re also very excited about working with the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall to increase the number of events available at Glenn Gould Studio, which is one of the country’s premier performance spaces and known for its superb acoustics and recording facilities.” “We’re very excited to be working with the Glenn Gould Studio,” says Charles S. Cutts, President and CEO of the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall. “In addition to offering significantly greater resources to facilitate sales of tickets and convenience for our customers, we believe there will be terrific creative synergies in how we cooperate to make best use of all of these fantastic performance spaces. Glenn Gould, as a relatively smaller performance space, will be yet another option for memorable performances.” As well as sales, ticket pickups will be made easier and more convenient by having Glenn Gould tickets available not only at nearby Roy Thomson Hall for pre-order purchases, but also on site two hours before each performance at Glenn Gould Studio, 250 Front St. West. This is for in-person sales and pre-ordered ticket pick-ups for that day's event only, applicable for all events. Roy Thomson Hall is at the corner of King and Simcoe streets, conveniently connected to the St. Andrew subway station. Glenn Gould Studio is the "jewel of the Canadian Broadcasting Centre" and continues to be one of Toronto's favourite venues for concert-goers. Glenn Gould Studio is also a superb recording facility offering the sound isolation, state-of-the-art recording facilities and acoustics that are ideal for classical and jazz recordings. The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is a not-for-profit
organization operating two of Canada’s premier concert halls. Roy
Thomson Hall, located in the downtown Toronto theatre district, is home
to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. This hall showcases the greatest talent
in the world in all music genres, from classical to jazz, to vocal series
to children’s concerts. Roy Thomson Hall is also a coveted location
for corporate events; the elegant and spacious lobbies invite multifaceted
uses such as receptions, sit-down dinners, and presentations. Massey Hall
is one of the most prominent and oldest buildings in the city. Built in
1892 by industrial baron Hart Massey as a memorial to his son, Massey
Hall still remains a vital Toronto entertainment scene, attracting the
biggest celebrities in pop and rock culture.
